Ok! So the husband and I bought ourselves a little condo close to where we work - which is such a blessing!!! We love our first place! It is so quaint and is becoming our own bit by bit!

However, when we moved in this place was definitely not our choice of colors! It's a scary thing when you put painter's tape on the wall and can barely tell where the tape ends and the wall starts! We have a galley kitchen which works quite well for us at this point! But there were a couple of things we needed to change to bring it to our taste. Here's what we started with:

It seriously felt like the walls were going to close in on us and smother us with leprechauns. I'm serious! There is basically no natural light and only one dim light on the ceiling, which didn't help the situation!

So we decided to paint our walls a bright grey called Silver Quill and freshen up the cupboards with Crystal white paint and new hardware! The paint brightens up the kitchen a lot!

We got a new light fixture for overhead from IKEA which added some more light, as well, my husband installed under-the-counter lighting for a crazy good price! It is one of my favorite aspects that I often take for granted! You don't realize how much light it adds till you forget to turn it on and then KAPOW! More light! It's awesome!

You see that wooden island? That is also one of my favorite parts of my kitchen! As you can sort of see in the picture above and better in the one below our kitchen has just over 6 feet of EMPTY SPACE!!! Which really makes NO sense to me!!! Why aren't there cupboards there? So back to the island - we found this at a garage sale for $10! I love it! We thought of repainting it but we actually really like it the way it is! It fits nicely beside that cupboard and adds extra storage - which is a blessing!

Our current project is to find something else to fit in that remaining 42.5 inches. We have been scouring IKEA, Used Regina, and Kijiji for something that would work in that space. Any ideas? (We might redo the kitchen eventually but the space works well for us in the meantime...)

Like the pot rack? It was the husband's pick. He's always liked them in kitchens and it actually works well in our space. It saves a lot of cupboard space for other things and is like a little art display of pots. They also reflect light and helps to brighten the space.

Oh and that thing in the plug-in is a Rex from Toy Story night light that I think is funny and the husband tries to come up with theories why he should leave the kitchen and relocate...however, I quite like him there! :)

Ok! This one is edited! This is my other favorite part of our kitchen! I know there are a lot of things i like in our kitchen but the elephant clock, Starbucks tea cups, and cookie cutters are also a favorite!

Well, that was a mini kitchen tour. As you have probably noticed our amazing flooring...(puke!) We do plan to change that at some point. It's a project that will avalanche into many though. If the floors get redone then we would also redo the baseboards because they are about 4.5 inches high and plastic - so if we redo the baseboards then we might as well paint the walls too! Soooo we're going to wait on that and take this first year of marriage to build a solid foundation and not overwhelm ourselves with renos. I really like our kitchen!
